Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Afterburner Australia collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access, correct or complain about it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
01Who we are
Afterburner Australia is the trading name of Inverted Downunder Pty Ltd (ABN 56 111 989 434), an Australian company based in Marks Point, New South Wales. We deliver keynote presentations and the Top Gun Experience to corporate and association audiences across Australia and New Zealand.
Afterburner Australia operates as a territory licensee of Afterburner Inc. (United States). In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Inverted Downunder Pty Ltd.
02What personal information we collect
We only collect personal information that we reasonably need to run our business. Depending on how you deal with us, that may include:
- Contact details — your name, company or organisation, email address and phone number.
- Event details — proposed event date, city, audience size, indicative budget, the services you are interested in, and anything you tell us in your message.
- Booking and delivery information — venue details, run sheets, audience context, briefing notes and the names and contact details of the people coordinating your event.
- Billing information — billing contact, purchase order references and invoicing details. We do not collect or store credit card numbers.
- Correspondence — emails, call notes and meeting records relating to your enquiry or booking.
- Technical information — standard web server information such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, generated automatically when you visit this website.
We do not seek sensitive information (such as health, religious or political information) and ask that you do not send it to us unless it is genuinely necessary — for example, an accessibility or dietary requirement for an event.
03How we collect it
We collect personal information:
- directly from you, when you complete the enquiry form on this website, request our bureau pack, email us, call us, or speak with us about an event;
- from speaker bureaus and agencies who approach us on your behalf;
- from your colleagues, where they provide your details as an event contact;
- from publicly available sources, such as your organisation’s website or LinkedIn, where we are researching a legitimate enquiry.
Where we collect your information from someone other than you, we take reasonable steps to make sure you know we hold it and why.
04Why we collect and use it
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and prepare a proposal or quote;
- negotiate, issue and administer booking agreements;
- plan and deliver keynotes and Top Gun Experience sessions, including travel and venue logistics;
- issue invoices and manage payment;
- send you post-event materials you have asked for, such as takeaway resources;
- send occasional marketing communications, where you have consented or would reasonably expect it (see section 7);
- improve our services, including through feedback and debriefing; and
- meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.
If you choose not to provide the information we ask for, we may not be able to respond to your enquiry or deliver an event for you.
05Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We disclose it only where it is necessary for the purposes above, to:
- Our speakers and facilitators — including Matt Hall, Chris ‘Camel’ Chmiel and contracted presenters, so they can prepare for and deliver your event.
- Speaker bureaus and agencies — where a bureau introduced the booking or is managing it on your behalf.
- Matt Hall Racing — our related operating business, where an event involves an aerobatic display, flight or shared logistics.
- Afterburner Inc. (USA) — our licensor, for licensing, reporting and quality obligations. We limit this to what is necessary.
- Service providers — the platforms we use to run the business, including website hosting and form handling, email and document storage, our booking and pipeline system, email marketing tools, and our accountants and payment processors.
- Venues, airlines and travel providers — where needed to deliver an event.
- Others — where you consent, or where we are required or authorised by law.
06Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, principally in the United States and the European Union. Afterburner Inc., our licensor, is based in the United States.
Before disclosing personal information overseas we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. By providing your information to us, you acknowledge that it may be stored or accessed overseas for these purposes.
07Marketing and how to opt out
We may send you occasional emails about our keynotes, resources and availability where you have consented or where you would reasonably expect it — for example, after making an enquiry or attending an event.
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we act on unsubscribe requests promptly. You can also opt out at any time by emailing info@afterburner.com.au. Opting out of marketing does not stop necessary communications about a booking you have with us.
08Cookies and analytics
This website is deliberately light on tracking. We do not set advertising cookies, and we do not use third-party advertising or social media tracking pixels on this site.
Our hosting provider records standard server logs (including IP addresses) for security and performance purposes. If we introduce analytics in future, we will update this policy before doing so.
09Security and how long we keep it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include access controls on our systems, multi-factor authentication on business accounts, encrypted connections to this website, and limiting access to the people who need it.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described above, or as long as the law requires — financial records, for example, must generally be kept for seven years. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading. Email info@afterburner.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable period, normally 30 days.
We may need to verify your identity first. There is no fee for making a request, though we may charge a reasonable cost for providing access in some circumstances. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why in writing.
11Data breaches
If we become aware of unauthorised access to, or disclosure or loss of, personal information that is likely to result in serious harm, we will assess it promptly and notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required.
12Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please tell us first — email info@afterburner.com.au with the details. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
13Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The current version is always available at afterburner.com.au/privacy-policy, and the effective date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed.
